“Arise India Arise” was the theme for Independence day. Rev. Fr. Anthony Pancaras, the
Editor of the New Leader was the chief guest for the day. Father hoisted the national flag and released a dove. His message to the students was to create a new, safe India without any bias for the future.
The assembly was prepared by the students of Std VIII. The children portrayed the greatness of India through a dance and the occupation, struggle for freedom and present situation through a mime. The message given was that, students can change the present situation and create a better world for tomorrow, inspite of pollution, corruption, poverty, religious intolerance and lack of quality education. The assembly ended with Tagore’s prayer for India ‘Into that heaven of freedom my father, let my country awake’.
